Andrew Power (he/him) is a cellist, educator, and interdisciplinary musician, specializing in and organising contemporary music and innovative performance.

Based in Copenhagen, Andrew has performed across Europe in over 15 countries, collaborating intensively with artists across genres and disciplines in diverse venues, festivals, and settings. His work in contemporary music has led to performances with esteemed ensembles directed by Matthias Pintscher, Enno Poppe, Beat Furrer, Lucas Vis, Peter Rundel, Pierre-André Valade, and Gregory Vajda. He has appeared at major festivals including Manifeste, Gaudeamus, Time of Music, and Klang.

As a member of Athelas Sinfonietta, he has participated in landmark concerts such as the 90th Birthday concert for Per Nørgård at Hindsgavl Festival and Black Box Music with Simon Steen-Andersen and Håkon Stene. He has also performed with Exaudi, Plus-Minus Ensemble, Ensemble Modern, and Ensemble Intercontemporain and was featured on the 2021 recording of Matthias Pintscher's "Verzeichnete Spur" for Double Bass, Three Cellos, Instruments, and Live Electronics on the album Nemeton.

Since relocating to Denmark in 2015, Andrew has been dedicated to curating and producing contemporary music projects, presenting numerous concerts in Copenhagen that include Danish premieres of works by Steve Martland, David Lang, Alexander Schubert, Stefan Prins, Juliana Hodkinson, and Johannes Kreidler. His collaborations have also introduced works by composers such as Martin Stauning, James Black, Bára Gísladóttir, and Loïc Destremau.

In 2023 he was the solo instrumentalist and musical director in Josefine Opsahl’s opera Hjem, performed in Vridsløselille, a former prison on the outskirts of Copenhagen; the opera was nominated in 2024 for both the CPH Prize and the Reumert Prize.

Andrew co-founded EKKI MINNA, an experimental duo with award-winning accordionist Jónas Ásgeir Ásgeirsson. The duo has performed at leading new music festivals, including Klang, IMPULS, and Dark Music Days, to critical acclaim.

EKKI MINNA released the EP Reaction in 2024 under Dacapo Records. Their album NO MORE NO LESS was also released on Smekkleysa/Bad Taste Records in 2024, featuring electro-acoustic works by Mads Emil Dreyer, Christian Winther Christensen and Áslaug Magnúsdóttir along with pieces by Johannes Kreidler and Franz Schubert.

In 2024, they premiered their self-curated project titled Augmentations, which included new works by Jeppe Just Christensen, Mads Emil Dreyer, and Áslaug Rún Magnúsdóttir. Currently, EKKI MINNA is collaborating with Gaudeamus Award nominee Matthew Grouse on a large scale music theatre work titled We're Pleased To Meet Us, set to premiere at the MINU Festival (DK) in November 2025, following a residency at the Inter Arts Center (IAC) (SE)

As both a soloist and ensemble musician, Andrew has appeared on broadcasts by DR,ORF, BBC Radio 3, and Pitchfork. Over the past 15 years, he has premiered numerous solo works by emerging composers and performed at festivals such as IMPULS, Time of Music, and Messagequisse at the Wigmore Hall.

His career has also intersected genres. From 2011 to 2014, he collaborated with Sasha Siem on her album Most of the Boys, produced by Valgeir Sigurðsson. From 2015 to 2017, he toured with Anna Meredith, performing her album Varmints at major festivals including Glastonbury, Pohoda, Le Guess Who?, Lowlands, Iceland Airwaves, and the Edinburgh Festival, with performances broadcast on BBC Radio 6 and Pitchfork. Additionally, he performed at Royal Arena Copenhagen with Kygo on the Kids in Love tour and with jazz pianist, composer, and producer Nikolaj Hess.

In addition to his performance career, Andrew is an educator with a focus on Suzuki education. He currently teaches at Gentofte Musikskole and offers private lessons, nurturing the next generation of cellists through his expertise and passion for music education.

Andrew is committed to expanding the repertoire and possibilities of the cello, integrating contemporary performance practices, multimedia elements, and cross-disciplinary collaborations into his artistic work. Andrew has participated in masterclasses and lessons with renowned musicians and composers, including Helmut Lachenmann, Kaija Saariaho, Judith Weir, Torleif Thedéen, Alisa Weilerstein, Thomas Adès, Alexander Baillie, Julian Lloyd Webber, Heinrich Schiff, Carl Schachter, the Endellion Quartet, and Gary Hoffman.

He began his training at the prestigious Yehudi Menuhin School for gifted young musicians before entering the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in 2011 to study with Pierre Doumenge. He later continued his studies with Morten Zeuthen at The Royal Danish Academy of Music, graduating in 2017. He further specialised in contemporary music through the Postgraduate Performance program at Kunstuniversität Graz, working with Klangforum Wien until the pandemic in 2020.
